Dosy Bikes: Empowering Egypt's Women Bikers
“Many people tell girls that it’s unacceptable or wrong to ride scooters. Many girls wanted to learn scooters or bicycles, but they were afraid of taking the step. Dosy Bikes made them take the step,” says Nouran Ali, co-founder of Dosy Bikes.
Through their online platform, Dosy encourages women and girls in Egypt to ride scooters and bicycles by providing them with instructors, and a flexible schedule. Through this, they are also aiming to solve some of Egypt’s major issues around traffic congestion and pollution by introducing women to this more sustainable form of transportation.
“A lot of women have lost their jobs especially during the pandemic. Through Dosy, they can join us and become scooter or bicycle captains. This helps with providing an additional source of income for her and her family.”
